John F. Kennedy Jr. was by all accounts a decent, honorable young
man who didn't wear his wealth or inherited fame around his neck like a flag. He and
his wife apparantly shunned the elitist glamour available to them in New York and tried to
live as a relatively private and funky couple. Which is why I can't help but think
that he would have been embarassed and angry at the unforgivable behavior of the media
following his death. CNN claimed "The World Was
Mourning." Oh, please. Then again, maybe I shouldn't be so judgemental.
Those poor Bangladeshi's that have been streaming from their mudflat communities
and thatched shacks, all tens of thousands of them, undoubtedly paused to place a flower
at some makeshift shrine as they fled from monsoons and floods. Kosovar Albanians
and Serbs stopped their tit for tat brutality to weep over their copies of George before
lighting them aflame and throwing them at homes and churches. North Korean citizens
felt particularly close in spirit to these wealthy young people from Manhattan. Many
said they were too grief stricken to eat, or rather they would be if there was some food
around, or something.
I managed to handle Dan Rather for about 30 seconds.
What the hell happened to that man? I think the mugger hit him on the head and he
can't remember. Is this the same guy I used to watch on 60 minutes when I was
growing up? I don't recall him being such a pandering, blathering idiot.
A lot of people probably casually knew John. He lived
amongst the people of Manhattan, not in some tony Upper East Side tower. But those
people weren't invited to the celebrity memorial service. That was reserved for the
prissy liberal elite, people John deliberately chose to avoid. The sneering,
self-absorbed hypocrites that are no doubt funding Hillary Clinton's maybe-Senate
campaign.
John Kennedy made what in my estimation was a stupid and
irresponsible decision that cost not only his own life but those of his wife and
sister-in-law. He had just had the cast from his foot removed and the bones were not
100%. He had little experience as a pilot, less without backup, and was flying at
night in haze when he wasn't certified on instruments. Even if he didn't expect the
haze (pilots familiar with the area say it's common) a prudent person transporting his
family would evaluate the situation from a "what happens if everything goes
wrong" scenario before starting the engines. People who do not naturally think
that way should not be given private pilot's licenses.
I'm beginning to increasingly believe that the American media
is deliberately seeking to dumb down the public. As our educational standards slip
further people will be less critical of those claiming to "know what's best for
them." These are generally serious liberals and left-wingers. This makes
it easier to sell intrusive government programs and initiatives to make society
"fairer," but usually do nothing of the sort. If the in-your-face
government folks are liberals, and the media is liberal, well? I digress, that's
another rant for another time.
There was absolutely no excuse to stay pinned to the search
story non-stop through the whole affair. Cut away and come back if something
happens. They do it all the time for things far more important. What were they
expecting to see, the bodies floating on the surface? Hell, after what they put us
through (and don't say you didn't have to watch it...it was everywhere) why didn't they
bring the corpses up on the beach and suspend them like fish from a pole? Now that
would have been an image. And the press would have photographed it, you can bet on
it.
The accident was a shame. Three young lives with great
potential are over. Too bad. Move on. Life's like that sometimes. If you
want to get upset about something, New York, how about the woman raped and murdered in
Central Park the other day. Oh, I'm sorry. She wasn't one of the beautiful,
connected few. She didn't go to your clubs and parties. You'll get around to
remebering her, maybe, if you get that government appointment you want, if only those
heartless republicans stop brainwashing people to believe that the government doesn't have
a claim on all their money just so you can make the world fairer.
Hillary Clinton is a carpetbagger and a fraud.
